How We Can Help You Feel Younger (AND Maybe Even Look
Younger) Today

Does your brain want to do things that your aging body
can’t?

Whether you’re aching back prevents you from running a marathon or your twinging elbow makes it impossible to play a full round of golf, getting older can definitely be frustrating.

Luckily, there are easy ways to combat the most annoying signs of aging (like pain and stiffness), and get you on the road to feeling young again. Here’s are three effective ways to feel younger today:

Stretch

While stretching is important at any age, its benefits are clearly seen in those of us who’ve reached middle age and beyond. As we get older, our bodies stiffen and tighten, reducing our flexibility and, with it, our strength. Unfortunately, with this often comes pain. Ugh!

According to a
recent study in the journal Biology
, older adults who participated in regular static stretching noticed a dramatic decrease in their muscle stiffness. Those who participated in hold-relax stretching (like the assisted stretching we conduct at TVS) also saw these positive effects.

In order to reap the rewards, you’ll have to stretch regularly, so be sure to work this into your daily routine. Get started by CLICKING HERE to book a stretch with us today.

Move

While simple things like walking or bending to pick something off the floor may hurt more than it used to, it’s essential to keep your body moving. We’re not saying you need to sign up for a triathlon. However, merely walking at a moderate pace for a half-hour every day will do wonders at
keeping your body more limber. That famous phrase, “use it or lose it,” is popular for a reason; it’s true.

Bonus points if you can get moving multiple times a day. No time to exercise? Break your movement into chunks — 10 minutes in the morning, 10 as a break in the afternoon, and 10 before or after dinner. After your exercise, be sure to take a few minutes to stretch.

Lift

In addition to the increased stiffness, reduced flexibility, and boosted pain, aging can lead to a decline in muscle mass, bone density, and overall strength. The best way to combat these issues is by adding strength training to your routine. Don’t panic! No one’s expecting you to bench press your body weight.

We’re talking about adding an exercise routine that uses light weights at least three times a week to help build your strength. In addition to helping you feel stronger, doing this can reduce your risk of
chronic diseases like arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes, found researchers of a study in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine.
