ADVANCED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

We offer a few types of acupuncture techniques.

We incorporate dry needling, electro-acupuncture, and myofascial cupping into our treatment protocols to help promote healing, reduce inflammation and pain, and to relax the areas where we are focusing treatment for chronic pain or injury.

It is believed that acupuncture works by harmonizing the flow of something called “Qi” or life energy through the body. Lines of Qi unite at certain points called “acu-points” all over the human body and these acu-points correspond to the function of various organ systems.  Qi’s flow of energy can be blocked or unbalanced which leads to physical health problems.  Acupuncture reestablishes that flow of Qi thereby reinstating balance of energy and return to health and proper function.

Western medicine has embraced acupuncture and dry needling as a proven treatment protocol to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and relief of trigger points. Our goal in using dry needling is to release trigger points and improve range of motion while controlling pain. Our doctors at Advanced Health Professionals in Norwalk find that dry needling reduces muscle tension. This can help speed up the patient’s return to active rehabilitation and strengthening.

Before your acupuncture session:

One of our doctors will have a one-on-one consultation with you to determine your specific needs and whether dry needling presents a viable option for treatment. An acupuncture session at Advanced Health Professionals lasts about a 30 to 45 minutes. During that time, our doctors identify the exact acupuncture points where tiny disposable needles smaller in width than a human hair are gently inserted. Then you will be allowed to lay in total relaxation in a quiet, peaceful, private room.

At your follow up acupuncture appointments, our doctors will reassess your condition to determine the next steps in your acupuncture treatment and make refinements and alterations as needed to maximize your dry needling, myofascial cupping or electro-acupuncture sessions.
